Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange recently warned the state government that there would be serious consequences if elections were held without addressing the Maratha community's demand for reservation. Jarange invited Marathas to a large gathering during the Dasara festival in Narayangadh, Beed district. Emphasizing that he will not compromise on any demands, including the withdrawal of criminal cases against community members, Jarange stated that the state government would face repercussions in future elections if it continued to neglect the Maratha community's concerns. He urged Marathas to unite and stand firm in their fight for reservation, highlighting that this issue is not just about reservation but also about dignity and equality for the Marathas. Jarange criticized certain individuals within the ruling party for creating obstacles and suggested that the community should not be considered as ‘Kunbis’ but should be given separate reservation outside of the existing OBC quota. While the ruling coalition and other political parties have not taken a clear stance on this matter, the community's discontent has been increasing due to the slow progress in resolving the issue by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's administration.
